16th Days of Industrial Culture Rhine-Main on the theme of 'Europe - Connections'

From 28 July to 5. August Experience industrial culture in the heart of Europe

(ffm) Inspired by the European Heritage Year 2018 with the motto "Shared Heritage", of which the KulturRegion is a co-organiser with its projects, the "Days of Industrial Culture Rhine-Main 2018" are dedicated to the theme "Europe - Connections". From 28 July to 5 August, they invite you to discover what connects the Frankfurt-RhineMain Metropolitan Region with Europe and what European influences can be found here: Whether at the Rolls-Royce turbine plant in Oberursel, ESOC and EUMETSAT in Darmstadt or the striking sewage treatment plant in Frankfurt's Niederrad district, the first large-scale mechanical sewage treatment plant on the European continent. "The European dimension and the connections in and to the whole of Europe characterise this region like no other. This can be experienced vividly, for example with a steam locomotive ride from Hanau to Frankfurt Airport. Many industrial cultural sites in the region open their doors for the Days of Industrial Culture," explains Sabine von Bebenburg, Managing Director of the KulturRegion.

47 cities in the Rhine-Main region, from Bingen on the Rhine to Miltenberg on the Main, from Hirzenhain to Darmstadt, and over 150 organizers are involved in this year's program. Over nine days, with 185 different programme items, it offers more than 400 opportunities to discover the diversity of industrial culture: whether on tours of otherwise closed production facilities of technology parks, companies or depots, guided tours of transport buildings, port facilities, on tours by ship, train, bus and bike or open-air film screenings. The 120-page programme booklet is available free of charge in town halls, citizens' offices and tourist information offices in the region. It is also available at the KulturRegion office at Frankfurt's main railway station, Poststrasse 16, and can be downloaded online at <link http: www.krfrm.de _blank>
