2,000,000 watched stream of world's first stadium event in Corona crisis

A good 2,000,000 people were guests in Frankfurt over the weekend - at least virtually. Because on Saturday, the world's first major 2020 stadium event took place at Frankfurt's Commerzbank Arena as part of the weekly BigCityBeats Life livestream. The main aim of the organisers was to send out a positive signal to the world: To look ahead, to take heart, not to let it get you down and to look forward to celebrating the "biggest club in the world" again at some point in the Commerzbank Arena. And: every crisis also brings opportunities! Or as Lukas Podolski, tuned in from Istanbul, said at the start of the livestream: "At some point we'll get through this shit."

Football stars of Frankfurt Eintracht such as Kevin Trapp, Timothy Chandler, Filip Kostic, Gelson Fernandes, Goncalo Pacienca, Marijan Cavar and Lukas Podolski, who was connected on the video cube, the DJ stars Gestört aber GeiL, Le Shuuk and BigCityBeats CEO Bernd Breiter gathered for this at the center circle, above them on the video cube from Istanbul Lukas Podolski. Together they demonstrated unity and cohesion: "Auf Jetzt - InEintracht", is the name of the campaign with which Eintracht Frankfurt wants to help those who have been particularly affected by the Corona crisis.

Following this, German super-chart act Gestört aber GeiL with special guest SDP and BigCityBeats resident DJ Le Shuuk broadcast their beats live from the kick-off spot. Over 2,000,000 WorldClubbers from around the world watched the spectacle in the stream.

The images were broadcast via live cameras and drone footage on all of BigCityBeats' social media channels. In addition, some of Europe's biggest media brands like BILD.de presented the event and broadcast the livestream for millions of visitors on their websites, turning it into a big concert club night. After the session in the stadium, there was a seamless transition to the rooftop set of the BigCityBeats headquarters, where there was club music to the ears for another 7.5 hours. From Frankfurt, there were live broadcasts across several time zones to Seoul (South Korea) to DJ Soda, to Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Ummet Ozcan, to Tel Aviv (Israel) to Vini Vici and to Miami (USA) to David Guetta. In addition, there was an exclusive radio set by NERVO.

Star chef Ralf Frenzel conjured up a star menu on the Rooftop in the set-up Club Kitchen for the audience to try, and Bar Philosophy created live cocktails for the audience to remix.

According to BigCityBeats CEO Bernd Breiter, "Everyone around the world has a strange feeling at the moment because of the things that have changed. I was also a bit queasy when I entered the empty Commerzbank Arena, the living room of the WORLD CLUB DOME. But when the beats started to play from the kick-off and so many fans from all over the world joined in, I was moved. This should also be a signal to bring such great venues back to life. We thank Eintracht Frankfurt, the Commerzbank Arena, the Bild newspaper, the DJs and everyone who joined us in making this first stadium event in the Corona crisis possible. "
