25th anniversary of Tuesday Night Skating: season opener of skating tours on March 28

On Tuesday, 28. March, the Tuesday Night Skater season begins at Harbor Park. At 8:30 p.m., Mike Josef, Department Head for Planning, Housing, will give the starting signal. Several hundred skaters are expected at the kick-off, who will then roll through the city area every Tuesday until the end of Central European Summer Time.

"As a dynamic, colorful procession, the Tuesday Night Skaters show every week what the sports city of Frankfurt has to offer," says Josef. "It is impressive to see that after 25 years, on the one hand, such a loyal community has formed, but on the other hand, numerous newcomers are always enthusiastic about the concept and join in."

The skater tours are prepared and carried out by organizer Dirk May on behalf of the city of Frankfurt. Thanks to his commitment and the support of the public order office, police, ambulance services as well as the public transport authorities, Tuesday Night Skating can take place weekly without any significant traffic obstructions.

"We start with a TNS Light Tour," says May. "The route is shorter, the pace is more relaxed, and the break at the Hafenpark start and end points allows everyone to get off halfway through the tour. That's why it's perfect for the start of the season, even for beginners and returners." A TNS Light Tour is offered every first Tuesday of the month. Safe braking and riding technique are basic requirements for participation. Wearing a helmet and protectors is recommended. Routes are usually between 27 and 34 kilometers. Usually the event ends around 11 p.m. at Hafenpark.

Accompanying the skaters are police and paramedics, as well as around 80 stewards who ensure safety and a smooth process. Information on the respective tours is always published on Tuesdays on the website t-n-s.de. Here you can also find the "TNS traffic rules", which should be familiar to all active skaters.
