2nd Global Cider Forum comes to Frankfurt

Cider is booming. Especially compared to other alcoholic beverages, the annual growth rate of 6.1 percent until 2023, as predicted by the market research institute Allied Market Research - is above average. The Global Cider Forum 2018 is taking this success into account for the second time now: after last year's great success, the European umbrella association of cider and fruit wine producers AICV is once again inviting manufacturers, suppliers and all interested parties to the international specialist conference on the subject of cider - on Thursday, 6 September 2018, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Frankfurt School of Finance.

Together with the Association of Hessian Cider and Fruit Juice Presses (Verband der Hessischen Apfelwein- und Fruchtsaft-Keltereien e. V.) and the Association of the German Fruit Wine and Sparkling Fruit Wine Industry (Verband der deutschen Fruchtwein- und Fruchtschaumwein-Industrie (VdFw)), the AICV had launched the Global Cider Forum. "The response to the first forum was so good that the decision to continue this international exchange was very easy for us," says Martin Heil, president of the AICV and chairman of the Hessian Cider Association. "This year, we expect 150 participants from all over the world, who will be able to exchange ideas with each other for a whole day and get valuable impulses, food for thought and practical tips.

Of course, we are particularly pleased that Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner has taken over the patronage for the Global Cider Forum. This shows the importance this market has in German agriculture." Klöckner will give a presentation at a networking dinner for participants at Flemings' Hotel on the eve of the Global Cider Forum, September 5.

Minister President Volker Bouffier will officially welcome participants at the 2nd Global Cider Forum on September 6. The forum day's programme includes presentations on the development of the cider market in different countries, consumer trends and market research, and the influence of legislation on market dynamics. Speakers include Paul Vander Heide, President of the United States Association of Cider Makers (USACM), Dr. David Marshall from the British sustainability agency Brightspace Foundation, Tristan Horx from the Zukunftsinstitut and Philippe Binard, Secretary General of the World Apple and Pear Association. The panel will also include Daniel Emerson, founder of Irish craft cider maker Stonewell Cider, Andreas Sundgren Graniti, founder of Swedish cider producer Brännland Cider, and Kevin Baker, senior consultant at Global Data. Experts will discuss current findings in pomology during a panel discussion.
