Congratulations: the popular OPEN DOORS Festival turns 30! For three decades, the city center of Neu-Isenburg has been transformed into a large open air stage for three days. After the pandemic-induced break, the music spectacle will return to the city center again in 2022 - but this time not along Frankfurter Straße. Similar to the first years of the festival, there will again be various small and larger venues from July 22 - 24, where visitors, who sometimes travel from all over the region, can enjoy live music together and celebrate together.
So join equal 40 bands, acts and program points on 14 venues in the schedule and whole Neu-Isenburg is involved with a colorful and diverse repertoire - and for a weekend the music capital of Hesse! That there is the whole still with free entrance for all, is also 2022 again regional and supraregional culture sponsors to owe. The goal of the festival makers is quite clear: The anniversary should be the biggest party of the year and every music lover should get his money's worth: You can headbang and dance to hard rock and cool pop, sing along really loudly to the most beautiful Schlager chansons and the hottest hits from the 90s, dive into a dream world with reggae and Latin American world music, or sway to hearty folk music and traditional Irish folk what the beer benches give away. Cool DJs with their diverse program in extraordinary locations will also make sure that you can dance into the warm summer night. And not only for families and children, but also for movement enthusiasts and sport freaks with the OPEN DOORS festival in this year so some is offered.
Bereits 1991 came the new Isenburger Michael Kercher, even passionate musician, on the idea for the festival. Together with Thomas Leber, then head of the cultural office, he was able to convince those responsible in the city of his vision - and in 1993 he immediately put on a debut whose success exceeded all expectations. So the follow-up event for 1994 could be started quickly - and the rest is history! While in the first year 2,500 visitors came to the festival, in the last years before the pandemic up to 45,000 people enjoyed themselves in front of the 20 stages and along the party mile on the Frankfurter Straße. After the OPEN DOORS Festival was celebrated in the drive-in cinema in 2020 and at the Iseborjer Kultursommer in the sports park in 2021, it is now returning to the city - even if this return will not (yet) be as big as it was in the years before the pandemic. In any case, nothing has changed in the versatility and attractiveness of the program.
On the stages will be about local matadors such as The Gypsys, with which festival maker Michael Kercher sits on the drums, Roy Hammer & The Pralinees, the popular Die Toten Hosen/ Die Ärzte cover band Alex im Westerland or the cult party band Die Quietschboys will be on stage and will ensure a really good mood. In addition, there will be dance workshops, the Open Doors Open at the Isenburg Tennis Club, offers especially for children and families and much more. It's just great that the OPEN DOORS Festival can take place again in time for its 30th anniversary.
