34th Harvest Festival transforms the Rossmarkt into Hesse's largest farm

34th Harvest Festival transforms the Rossmarkt into Hesse's largest farm

Starting today, the Rossmarkt will once again be transformed into a large agricultural exhibition area. The goal: The Frankfurt Harvest Festival is to make the new "desire for the countryside" in the middle of the city tangible. To this end, the 34th edition will once again feature a large number of exhibits: You can expect a discovery tour around the local agriculture and the variety of culinary specialties from the region. It moos, it whinnies and bleats in the city centre, the farmers are back in town to present their home-grown products to a broad public. The Frankfurt Harvest Festival offers the opportunity to get "first-hand" information about local agriculture, its structures and production methods. The majority of exhibitors are agricultural direct marketers or work closely with Hessian agriculture.

Hessian farmers offer a varied range of fresh food from the region. Here you can buy and taste almost anything your heart desires directly from the producer: home-made sausage, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, bread wine, cider, honey and beekeeping products, milk and dairy products from cows, goats and sheep. In this way, the visitor is enabled to convince himself of the high level of performance of local agriculture.

Regionality and health have been almost a tradition at the Harvest Festival in the midst of the financial metropolis of Frankfurt for over a quarter of a century. The "rural atmosphere"at the Frankfurt Harvest Festival promotes dialogue and thus understanding between the international metropolis and rural areas. Historical and especially modern agricultural work processes and implements are presented just as vividly as the refinement of agricultural products.

The harvest festival is more than just a conventional farmers' market. The topic of agriculture is brought closer here in a very special, impressive way. Informing, trying out and participating is the motto here. Numerous demonstrations, tasting stalls, our attractive supporting programme, which is designed to encourage you to join in and do something else, and last but not least the many animal exhibits ensure that your visit to the harvest festival will be one to remember.

The Harvest Festival Frankfurt 2017 will take place from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 September. The opening hours of the Harvest Festival are from 10:00 to 20:00 on all three days. Admission to the entire event is of course free of charge!
