Adi Hütter becomes Eintracht Frankfurt's new head coach, succeeding Niko Kovac at the start of the new season. The 48-year-old Austrian comes to the Main from BSC Young Boys and most recently won the Super League championship with the Swiss side. Hütter's contract in Frankfurt runs until June 30, 2021.
"Adi is a true football professional who lives this sport through and through. His CV is impressive, as he has proven over the long term at several clubs that, with hard work, he can get the best out of even limited opportunities. He is therefore a perfect fit for our club," says Eintracht sporting director Fredi Bobic, who has recently held many exploratory talks: "But Adi was always up front and our constructive talks ultimately came to a good result. We are looking forward to a good cooperation."
Before his time in Bern, Hütter was head coach of FC Red Bull Salzburg. With the team from the city of Mozart, he won the Austrian championship in 2015 and was cup winner. With BSC Young Boys, Hütter also achieved the runner-up spot in the Swiss championship two times in a row (2016/2017). Hütter delivered another special coaching achievement during his time at SV Grödig. With the club from the province of Salzburg, he managed the championship in the "Erste Liga" (equivalent to the 2nd Bundesliga in Germany) in 2013 and led the underdogs to third place in the Bundesliga (participation in Europa League qualification) the following season.
Adi Hütter is looking forward to his new role: "I experienced three wonderful years at Young Boys and felt extremely comfortable. I will always have fond memories of this time, especially of course winning the championship title and the unique emotions and celebrations. The move to Eintracht Frankfurt is a dream come true for me. As a player, I was denied the Bundesliga, although I once had an offer. As a coach, I had already turned down one or two offers from the Bundesliga. But now I'm even more looking forward to being able to work in the league of the world champions."
On 27 May 2018, Adi Hütter will take BSC Young Boys to face FC Zurich in the final of the Swiss Cup. Only then will Hütter be officially presented at Eintracht Frankfurt.
