After 2 years break: Frankfurt's leading cider fair Cider World is back

Frankfurt and the cider - that is inseparable. It's hard to imagine that ANYONE loves cider as much as we do - after all, our cider culture was just recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But the reality is that cider is enjoyed all over the world - as guudes Stöffche as well as cider, cider, must, sidra and the like. For those who would like to explore the diversity of this delicious world of taste, CiderWorld, the world's most international cider industry event, has been held in Frankfurt for several years. Now, after a two-year break, CiderWorld will finally take place again in the Main metropolis from June 3 to 12, 2022, with an expo, various events and the Cider World Award. More than 80 exhibitors from 15 countries are expected at this year's fair, and Norway, one of the youngest cider regions in the world, will be there as a guest country.

Cider World is fully dedicated to apples as the most important international platform for the presentation, tasting and sale of the product. Since its premiere, it has attracted producers, resellers, restaurateurs, sommeliers, trade press and consumers every year. But it is not only on the day of the fair that the versatility of cider is celebrated. The same applies to the accompanying program with numerous tastings and events, which will take place from June 3 to 12 in various locations in Frankfurt. For example, cider, cider and cider fans can look forward to a menu moderated by experts with corresponding drinks or to special flavor combinations at an apple wine and cheese tasting.

Cider World Expo

Besides the Cider World Award, the Expo has been one of the core elements of Cider World since the beginning. It is aimed at trade visitors and end consumers alike and is a meeting place for experts and the trade press to find out about the latest developments and innovations and maintain direct contact with wineries. The Expo will take place on Saturday, June 11, at the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten. Starting at 1 p.m., the trade public will have the opportunity for tastings and discussions, and master classes are planned for this purpose, which will focus, for example, on cider from this year's Cider World guest country, Norway, or present an exciting food pairing concept with cider & Cheese. A new feature is the Spotlight area, where products will be served for tasting that have been submitted for the Cider World Award but whose wineries are not themselves on site as exhibitors. "In this way, we make it possible for trade visitors to really be able to taste all the ciders that are in the Award," says Michael Stöckl, managing director of Cider World.

From 3 p.m., the CiderWorld Expo will then be open to all visitors. But that's not all: interested consumers can also get to know the international world of cider throughout the day at the Cider World Market, which will be held in front of the Gesellschaftshaus. Food trucks and cider stands will provide their guests there with selected specialties and give insight into the diversity of cider and co.

Apples from the Far North

The guest of honor at this year's CiderWorld is Norway, one of the youngest cider regions in the world. "We are very pleased that Norway is presenting itself as part of the event," says Michael Stöckl. "Cider has developed incredibly in Scandinavia. Three wineries that existed in Norway until a few years ago have now become more than 20. Many of them have already produced award-winning products and are run by incredibly interesting personalities. Norway is a great addition to the international cider world."

Award for Best Cider

The Cider World Award will be presented on 10. June at 12 o'clock under the patronage of City Councilwoman Stefanie Wüst in the Astor Film Lounge MyZeil awarded. It is the only scientifically based award for cider and is organized in cooperation with Geisenheim University. The renowned university examines each submitted product with the help of an extensive analysis before a jury of experts tastes and evaluates it. Press houses can submit their wines in seven categories: Cider Still and Sparkling, Perry & Flavored Cider Still and Sparkling, Ice Cider, Non-Alcoholic Cider and Brandy, which are spirits made from apple, pear or quince cider. In addition, for the first time, an honorary award will be presented for Cider World Personality of the Year.
