All under one roof: App guides through the Frankfurt Art Summer

(kus) From June to August, numerous exhibitions and actions of the off-scene take place in Frankfurt within the framework of the Frankfurt Art Summer. To help art enthusiasts keep track and know what, when, where is happening, the Kulturamt has had an app developed.

The Art FFM app bundles everything the Frankfurt art scene has to offer beyond the museums. Interactive calendar and map functions enable users to discover the diverse range of events on offer in Frankfurt's independent art scene for themselves in a compact and clear way and to compile their personal favourites. In addition, the app offers a directory of artists, short descriptions of studios, galleries, educational institutions and much more. It can be searched classically by date, artist, institution or associatively by topic.

The response to the digital offering has been great: around 140 events have already been entered so far, and 180 organisers have registered. "This is a great endorsement. It is already becoming apparent that the Art FFM app is becoming an important medium for off-scene events. The digital offer shows how extensive and diverse the artistic offer of the independent scene is and offers art enthusiasts a roadmap even beyond the Frankfurt Art Summer," says head of culture Ina Hartwig.

The variety of events in July and August ranges from the Open Studios at ATELIERFRANKFURT, which opens floors in rotation throughout the summer, and the inhabited art installation Frankfurt B.K.I. at Seehofstraße 8a. Here, Bea Emsbach, Constanza Weiss, Corinna Mayer, Deniz Alt, Eike Laeuenv, Sandip Shah, Stefanie Trojan and Vesna Bilic illuminated the subject of man in very different facets - an exciting examination of being and appearances.

With FFFriedrich, a new Off-Space has been added on the occasion of this year's Städel School anniversary, presenting former Städel students Inga Danysz, Ilja Karilampi (ft. Agassi F. Bangura) and Felix Kultau.

The Eulengasse exhibition space launched a three-month program for the Frankfurt Art Summer with "TUPEL - ordered pairs" and AusstellungsHalle 1A in Schulstraße also shows its "summer guests" weekly, on Thursdays, with a vernissage.

DAS BILDERHAUS gallery is also presenting works by graduates of the Städelschule, who studied at the university between 1956 and 1989, in a group exhibition entitled "Städelschüler x 10". "The 200th anniversary of the Städelschule," says Susanne Kujer, art consultant and initiator of the Frankfurt Art Summer, "is thus reflected in various places and invites us to explore the art scene from its roots."

With the Frankfurt Art Summer, the Cultural Office has set itself the goal of promoting Frankfurt's off-scene, which presents itself with many individual events, and anchoring it in the consciousness of Frankfurt residents as well as the city's guests. The free app is available for iOS and Android and can be downloaded for free from the App and Play Store respectively. Through continuous content maintenance, it is intended to serve as an artist encyclopedia and calendar for those interested in art and culture, as well as the off-scene itself, beyond the Frankfurt Art Summer.
