Andreas Möller is the new head of Eintracht Frankfurt's junior training centre

Eintracht Frankfurt has appointed Andreas Möller as the new head of its youth development centre (NLZ). This was unanimously agreed by the executive committee of Eintracht Frankfurt e.V. and the board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG. Accordingly, the Frankfurt native will receive a contract until June 30, 2022 and will take up his duties with immediate effect. Möller previously worked as Bernd Storck's co-coach with the Hungarian national team between 2015 and 2017. During this period, the 52-year-old was also responsible for coaching Hungary's U17s and U19s and was tasked with creating new structures in the youth sector, the scouting system and coach education.

The World and European champion is delighted with his new role: "The development of Eintracht in recent years has been remarkable in all areas. I've had the opportunity to gain a lot of valuable experience in top-level and youth football, which I'd now like to bring to Riederwald. In particular, I want to focus more on promoting the individual playing quality of Eintracht's youngsters."

The board member responsible for the sporting area, Fredi Bobic, explained: "In recent weeks, we have initiated a process together with the club for the structural realignment of the youth development centre and are aiming for a broader personnel line-up. In Andreas Möller, we are not only bringing one of Germany's most successful footballers to us, but also a proven expert who embodies the declared new focus in German youth football on individual playing class and tempo football like no other. With him, we want to send a clear signal as to which elements we want to focus on in the future of youth football at Eintracht Frankfurt. This is one of the reasons why the DFB has been in talks with him for many years, with the aim of integrating him into our youth development work. The fact that we have succeeded in winning him for Eintracht Frankfurt will be good for the club. Andy is highly respected and well connected both nationally and internationally," said Bobic, who also emphasised the conscientiousness of Andreas Möller's work: "Andy, who holds a football coaching licence, has completed numerous job shadowing sessions over the past few years and has constantly developed his skills. This has shown us that he has a great inner drive for the cause. For all these reasons, we decided in favour of him after talking to other candidates."

Eintracht president Peter Fischer added: "We are in agreement with those responsible at Fußball AG that new emphases need to be set in the youth development centre in the future. Above all, we want to attract more top talent from the region to Eintracht Frankfurt. Andreas Möller, one of Germany's most successful offensive players, stands for individual class and speed. These are quality characteristics that we increasingly need, demand and want to promote in our youth football. He will compete with these concepts. In doing so, he will be embedded in a newly structured team that will certainly be further strengthened in terms of personnel in the future."

Andreas Möller was trained as a youth player by Eintracht Frankfurt and won the last German championship with the A-youth team in 1985. He played a total of 136 Bundesliga games for Eintracht, scoring 41 goals. Andreas Möller also played for Borussia Dortmund, Juventus Turin and Schalke 04. 85-time international Andreas Möller was also World Champion (1990), European Champion (1996), Champions League winner (1997), UEFA Cup winner (1993), German Champion twice and DFB Cup winner three times. In recent years, he has sat in with a number of well-known coaches, including Diego Simone, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Ralf Rangnick. (Text: Eintracht Frankfurt Fussball AG)
