Art in public space - #MeetFrida invites to Art Walks in Frankfurt

06.04.2021 | 13:07 Clock | Culture

Although the museums unfortunately had to close again, art lovers have the opportunity to enjoy art in April. Because the art platform #MeetFrida presents in a current action from 6 to 15 April art in public space. 12 works by selected #MeetFrida artists will be shown on 18/1 posters in Frankfurt, Berlin and Leipzig under the motto "Art instead of advertising". The art exhibition can be experienced via Art Walks, which include street art and pop-up galleries of the participating artists in the respective cities in addition to the posters. The action creates outdoor temporary galleries in the three metropolises and makes art accessible to the public even in lockdown. Using a digital map at www.meetfrida.art, interested visitors will be guided from location to location and receive comprehensive information about artists* and works.

In Frankfurt, the poster exhibition focuses on the Römer and Hauptwache subway stations as well as Hanauer Landstraße, where numerous murals by #MeetFrida artist Guido Zimmermanncan be found. The works of the Frankfurt artist move between graffiti, painting and sculpture and show that art belongs in public as much as in a museum. On their way through the city centre, visitors* can also catch a glimpse of Zimmermann's sculptures at the Galerie Christel Wagner (by appointment).

The digital maps of the Art Walk are available on www.meetfrida.art/artwalk since 6.4.2021. The Art Walk can also be experienced digitally after the action in the public space: All works will be integrated with photos and 3D animation on a digital Streetview map.
