#BeActive European Week of Sport 2018

#BeActive European Week of Sport 2018

From 23 to 30 September 2018, Frankfurt is all about sport. With the 19th Race for Survival, formerly called Race for the Cure, the European Week of Sport will open in the Main metropolis on Sunday! Until 30 September, many great activities will show how easy and above all how healthy it is to move more. Because that is what Europeans urgently need. Proof of this is a truly frightening figure: 38% of all Germans hardly ever do any sport! And this figure is steadily rising. This is also due to the fact that the population is getting older and older and many jobs are only performed while sitting down. The European Commission's initiative to promote sport and physical activity wants to set an example against this.

During the week of action, people will be motivated to get moving with a variety of physical activity activities at numerous locations around the city, while learning about different ways to move. Many will be surprised how easy it is to do something good for the body every day without having to sign up at a fitness centre straight away.

Sports clubs and other organisations in the region will be offering hands-on activities, including in Hafenpark, which is a popular meeting place for all sports enthusiasts anyway. In total, there will be Six "movement hotspots" during the European Week of Sport:

1 Opening of the European Week of Sport in Germany at the Race for Survival of Aktion Pink Deutschland e.V. on 23.9.2018 at the Mainufer

2 Mainkai

3 Stage at the Mainkai

4 Beautiful view and Weseler Werft

5 Harbour Park

6 BeActive PLUS

Closing Old Town opening from 28. bis 30.9.2018

At Hotspot 3, the stage at the Mainkai, the theme is: participate, try out, inform, have fun, motivate, animate. All passers-by, tourists, the daily walking public and all interested people are addressed here. There will be demonstrations and a great hands-on programme here at the big family day on 23 September from 2 - 6 pm.

In addition, the following schedule will be offered daily from Monday to Thursday:

12:00 a.m. Warm Up

12:30 p.m. Lunch Break to Join in

15:00 p.m. "Dance" Tea: offerings for elders

18:00 am After Work - Workout

And Weekends:

10:00 am Warm Up

11:00am Morning Move

12:00pm - 8:00pm Program

The stage is also the starting point for walking, running and running groups. So existing groups will meet at the stage this week and start their program before there.

Hotspot 4, Schöne Aussicht and Weseler Werft, is dedicated to sport in public space. Here it becomes clear how objects from everyday life can be converted into sports equipment. Yes, even a park bench can be used for exercise! All sorts of sports opportunities are shown here.

On Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30, a #BeActive program will take place on Mainkai from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., parallel to the opening of Old Town. In addition, there will be #BeActive Night throughout the city on Saturday from 7 - 9:30 pm with various sports.
