BigCityBeats announces a year 'In Space' with ESA

WORLD CLUB DOME ZERO GRAVITY ALSO IN 2019

WORLD'S FIRST OFFERING FROM THE WORLD TO THE ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC COMMUNITY OF BIGCITYBEATS

ARMIN VAN BUUREN, DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE, STEVE AOKI AND TIMMY TRUMPET INTERACT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE TRAVEL STATION ISS

BigCityBeats, the company behind the WORLD CLUB DOME festival, has announced a new collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) for 2019, combining the universal, unifying and borderless nature of electronic music and space travel. Last year's mission with ESA for the WORLD CLUB DOME Zero Gravity event, which saw the first club built in zero gravity, was so successful that the collaboration will reach even greater heights next year - another Zero-G event among many other things combining electronic music and space travel like never before.

Astronaut and current commander of the International Space Station (ISS), Alexander Gerst, sent the world's first message from space to BigCityBeats' electronic dance community. His message included a response to world-renowned star DJs Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki and Timmy Trumpet, who sent a greeting to the ISS and spoke enthusiastically of the vision and cooperation between BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME and the European Space Agency (ESA) and its zero-gravity mission.

ESA astronaut and ISS commander Alexander Gerst: "I am a big fan of electronic music and welcome all new space fans. It's great to see the best DJs in the world supporting space with their messages and making us see the future in a visionary spirit. Thank you for collaborating and organizing this inspiring event. It is my dream that one day every person will be able to see our wonderful planet from space once in their lifetime. Let's all work together to make this dream come true." (Watch full video here)

ESA astronaut Frank de Winne (Head of ESA's European Astronaut Centre) says of the WCD-&-ESA collaboration, "I would like to thank all the top DJs and WORLD CLUB DOME for reaching out to such a large community with the message of space. Thank you very much! And I would like to welcome all the new space fans and of course the whole electronic music community. See you in space!"

"What happens when you combine science with entertainment?" asks Bernd Breiter, CEO of BigCityBeats and founder of WORLD CLUB DOME, who had the vision to combine the magic of space with the magic of electronic music. "Club music unites nations. The guidelines of this community are freedom, love and tolerance. It is a cosmopolitan generation. We want to bring the fascination of space travel to a young audience and communicate the science of space travel in a way that is easy to understand. Looking into the future together, into a new dimension - how better to do this than to combine space travel and one of the most popular music styles in the world?"

BigCityBeats' club music community has more than half a million followers. With this year's WORLD CLUB DOME Zero-Gravity project, Bernd Breiter has already proven that science and entertainment can be combined in a way that is mutually beneficial. Globally, over a billion media impressions were achieved during the 2018 Zero-Gravity event, which saw the first club built in zero gravity and DJs Steve Aoki and W&W perform in zero gravity in an Airbus A310 specially converted for astronaut training. The zero-G flight with parabolic maneuvers achieved more than 5 minutes of weightlessness and dropped 50 lucky people and the Star DJs into a zero-gravity environment.

"I'm excited to see what 2019 has in store, as there will be more than just messages from space. In addition to announcing the "Space Edition" theme for the 2019 flagship edition of BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME in Frankfurt next year, the community will get to see the ESA & BigCityBeats collaboration test the limits of what's possible with an electronic music event." - Bernd Breiter, CEO of BigCityBeats.
