Bike Stop & Shop: Shopping by bike in Nordend

Get to know new stores, get your bike in shape and, in the best case, secure a prize. The Interessengemeinschaft Untere Bergerstraße e.V. invites you to a special day of action for the whole family. In addition to special offers from the dealers, there will be various stations in Nordend on the subject of bicycles.

If you want to use the last warm days of the year to do some shopping on your own doorstep and get some exercise, the Bike Stop & Shop action day is a great opportunity to do so. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, everything will revolve around the diverse shopping opportunities in Nordend - all of which can fortunately be reached with a short hop on a bike. Retailers and restaurants in the district will be tempting visitors with a wide range of activities and offers in the shopping streets, which will also get their bikes ready for the next shopping trip.

Bike course for young and old

The Bike Stop & Shop action day is organized by the Interessengemeinschaft (IG) Untere Bergerstraße e. V. and supported by Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft (IG) Untere Bergerstraße e.V. and supported by the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency as part of the "Frankfurt am Start" program. Anyone who wants to can follow an open bicycle course through the district and not only get to know the respective stores and restaurants, but also take advantage of services such as a bicycle washing station. Another highlight is a police safety course, which aims to make the youngest in particular aware of dangers and correct behavior in road traffic.

The course through the district can be explored at your own pace and independently. At each stop, the "Bike Stops", participants receive a point; those who have collected all the points on the course at the end can take part in a prize draw organized by IG Untere Bergerstraße e.V., whose prizes are provided by the businesses in Nordend. A great opportunity to discover Nordend - with or without a bike. Everyone is welcome to take to the attractive and diverse shopping streets in Nordend on this day.

Creating awareness for local retail

"District centers with shopping facilities play a central role for the respective districts and their residents. They not only serve as places of local supply, but also as important meeting places," emphasizes Stephanie Wüst, Head of Economic Affairs. "At their best, trade associations as representatives of local businesses revitalize the shopping streets. With campaigns that are in demand among residents, trade associations make offers to the neighborhood or beyond and strengthen their roots in the district. This is why we support the local trade associations, such as the Bike Stop & Shop campaign by the Untere Berger Straße e.V. interest group, which is unique in Frankfurt."

Ansgar Roese, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt, praises the commitment of the tradespeople involved in the campaign: "It is extraordinary what IG Untere Bergerstraße e.V. is putting together with many helping hands and voluntary commitment. Whether they work in retail, gastronomy or services - the local contributors make it possible to experience Nordend in a new way by bike and offer an exciting day for the whole family. We are sure to discover some new favorite stores and insider tips - and strengthen the neighborhoods."

Kaweh Nemati, Chairman of IG Untere Bergerstraße e.V., is looking forward to the day: "It makes us proud to be able to host the kick-off of Bike Stop & Shop. Nordend has a lot to offer and that's exactly what we want to show everyone in the neighborhood, but also throughout Frankfurt. You don't have to travel far to get everything you need. You can do it quickly on your own doorstep."

Of course, all retailers are also very welcome - would you like to get actively involved on site to make the first edition of Bike Stop & Shop a success? We look forward to hearing from you! Further information can be found on the project website www.bikestopshop.de.
