Truly, this is the end of an era: the traditional Frankfurt brewery Binding will end production at its site in Sachsenhausen by October 2023 and outsource to other locations. This was reported by the Hessenschau, among others. According to the Radeberger Group, the drastically increased prices for raw materials, energy and logistics would not be able to be absorbed by an already decided price increase of the beers alone. Therefore, the production and bottling operations would be successively relocated to sister sites by October 2023 at the latest. Not affected by this is the headquarters of the Radeberger Group, which will remain in Sachsenhausen.
The location can no longer be maintained despite enormous efforts. The closure of the traditional brewery will cost about 150 jobs in Frankfurt. For the affected employees, socially acceptable solutions are being sought, for example by transferring to other locations of the company.
The Binding brand will be retained. Only then the beer will no longer come from Sachsenhäuser Berg in the future. This is of course for all employees, but also for the city and for Sachsenhausen a bitter loss.
