Bookworms take note: City library opens more libraries

October offers plenty of great fodder for bookworms. In addition to events surrounding the alternative edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair and the popular "Frankfurt liest ein Buch" (Frankfurt reads a book) series, which will kick off at the end of October, there's another bit of good news: starting October 5, ten libraries will be open again! Currently, only the Central Library with Music Library and the libraries in Bockenheim, Bornheim, Höchst, Sachsenhausen and Rödelheim are open on a regular basis. This will change on 5 and 6 October. Then the municipal library will open four more libraries: the libraries in Dornbusch, Gallus, Schwanheim and Sossenheim. A Saturday opening will offer Höchst and Sachsenhausen, from 24 October follows the central library.

In the open houses is the unrestricted stay, newspaper reading, WLAN and the use of the research PCs again possible. The work and study places are currently released after observing the individual room situation in the respective library. Depending on the current development, there may be service extensions or restrictions.

There is, however, also a small drop of bitterness: the opening of further libraries is currently not possible due to Corona, because the current occupational health and safety standards of the city of Frankfurt stipulate that work teams do not mix because of the risk of infection. The requirement is based on the Federal Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Rule on SARS-CoV-2.

In the closed buildings, readers can still check out media packages by making an appointment by phone. In addition, the traveling library offers an individual delivery service. Regardless of their respective openings, the libraries have also resumed their event programs for children and children's groups.
