For us, it was an absolute top tip: In our Frankfurt Tip Guide 2019, we chose the beautiful location between Römerberg and the new Old Town as one of the top breakfast tips, which has since been visible to all guests through our sticker at the entrance. But now the café bar at the Kunstverein is closed - and will unfortunately not open again after the lockdown. The lease with the Kunstverein will not be extended, as the Journal Frankfurt had first reported. The operators had sought an extension, but the Frankfurter Kunstverein e.V. wanted to use the premises from now on - as was the case in the past - not for gastronomic purposes, but for the time being again as an exhibition space.
It is not only the very special atmosphere in the room with its high ceilings and the floor-to-ceiling arched windows that has inspired us and earned the Cafébar Kunstverein the predicate "Top Tip". At the suggestion of several users, we had tried breakfast there for our 2019 print guide and were very enthusiastic. Not for nothing was the café bar once voted one of the forty best breakfast locations in Germany. Fresh ingredients - mostly from the region, freshly squeezed juices, delicious coffee - all that made the start of the day here so pleasant. But also after breakfast a visit here was always a real recommendation due to delicious lunch dishes and delicious cakes.
With the closure Frankfurt has lost another piece of gastronomic diversity. The perfect location, the good quality of the culinary offer, the special atmosphere and the general friendliness with which one was received here, we will definitely miss. We wish the team that also runs the restaurant and café "Achter" at the Frankfurt Rowing Club 1884 all the best for the future.
