A great campaign takes place in 2019 for the now 24th time: The project "Your Christmas present for Frankfurt children" of the Frankfurt Children's Office. This selects in cooperation with social institutions children who may fill out their personal wish list. Frankfurt citizens can thus give presents to children from socially disadvantaged families and grant them a wish.
Sylvia Weber, Head of Department for Integration and Education, gave the starting signal for the 24th edition of the campaign on Tuesday, November 26: "I am very pleased that the people of Frankfurt have been participating in this campaign for many years. They all take on social responsibility and make children's eyes light up. This year we will give presents to more than 5000 children."
When asked why Schuhmacherei Lenz participates in the campaign, Mr. Dohn, master shoemaker and business owner, says: "The ‚Your Christmas Gift for Frankfurt Children' campaign is a firm part of the Advent season for us. It is always nice to hang the wish cards on our little tree. As a traditional business in the Bahnhofsviertel, we are very pleased that so many Frankfurt boys and girls get a present for Christmas through the campaign."
The wish lists are hanging in various shops and Volksbank branches in Frankfurt from now until Monday, December 16. Anyone who would like to make a child happy can take a card from the tree here, make the wish and then drop off the gift either at the store or at the Frankfort Children's Office. Many companies also make their employees' wishes come true. The value of the gift should be between 20 and 25 euros.
The Trifels Verlag has participated in the action for 12 years now. In the entrance area of the publishing house in Bockenheim, there is a Christmas tree on which the cards with the children's wishes hang.
In time before Christmas, all gifts are collected by the children's office, missing presents are bought and distributed to the respective institutions shortly before Christmas. So every child receives a personal Christmas present. A really nice action!
