Christopher Street Day: Of traffic lights and subways

Christopher Street Day: Of traffic lights and subways

U4 and U7 with more space

Today the celebrations for Christopher Street Day start again at the Konstablerwache, which will once again culminate in 2017 with the large demonstration march through the city center on Saturday. As in the past two years, the motifs at the crossing at Konstablerwache were changed at ten traffic lights. Until Monday, the traffic light pairs that were installed in the presence of Sylvia Weber, Head of the Department for Integration and Education, can be seen here again. A beautiful sign for tolerance, which was again a real eye-catcher and a popular photo motif right after the activation.

Even though the decision on marriage for all was an important sign for openness and tolerance, there are unfortunately still very many prejudices, discriminations and hostilities that gays and lesbians face in our society. Therefore, the CSD is not only a pure fun event - even if many of the program points are really fun and provide for boisterous, happy mood - but also a political one. <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de veranstaltungen s event christopher-street-day-2017.html _blank>You can find all further information about the CSD 2017 HERE in our event calendar!

The demonstration parade for Christopher Street Day on Saturday naturally attracts not only many participants, but also quite a few spectators. On this day, the U4 and U7 subway lines offer more space through the night with additional cars.

In addition, there are some traffic obstructions along the route. Tram lines 11 and 12 will have to be disrupted from about 10 am to 2 pm. In the west, line 11 coming from Höchst ends at the main station (south side), line 12 from Schwanheim ends at Willy-Brandt-Platz. In the east, line 11 will run from Schießhüttenstraße in Fechenheim to Börneplatz and continue as line 12 via Konstablerwache and Bornheim Mitte to Hugo-Junkers-Straße. Alternatives between Konstablerwache and Hauptbahnhof are the U4 and U5 subway lines or the S-Bahn.

Bus 36 to Sachsenhausen runs a detour from the "Hynspergstraße" stop via Friedberger Landstraße to Konstablerwache between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm.
The Ebbelwei-Express of the VGF starts for the first time at 14.40 from the stop Zoo; the first two round trips are cancelled
