City of Frankfurt has removed 224 o-bikes in the city area

Collection campaign continues until the end of the year

(ffm) The city of Frankfurt has removed 224 o-bike bicycles in the city area since the end of September this year. In October, 50 bicycles were removed. The collection campaign will continue until the end of the year.

The city of Frankfurt had started collecting the yellow bicycles of the bike rental company o-bike in September. "We had asked o-bike several times with deadlines to make a statement to the city, but there was no reaction," says transport department head Klaus Oesterling. "o-bike has also given no more signs of life in recent weeks."

The o-bike company's continued violations of the rules formulated by the city of Frankfurt for rental bike providers had forced the head of transport to act. Councillor Oesterling feels vindicated in his decision and points out that the removal of the junk bikes will continue until the end of the year.

After completion of the action, the city would try to charge the costs to o-bike, provided that the city found an addressee. If not, he said, the city will auction off the bikes or give them away to charitable organizations. However, the bikes are in such poor condition that they are more likely to be recycled for scrap metal, Oesterling said.

o-bikes can be reported to the Department of Streets and Development at the following email address and the exact location, with a photo if possible: <link>bbznord.amt66@stadt-frankfurt.de
