City presents coronation wine at Rheingau wine market

There are two premieres at this year's Rheingau wine market, one of the city's most popular festivals. On the one hand, the city of Frankfurt is presenting itself at its own stand with wine from the municipal vineyard on the Lohrberger Hang. On the other hand, a Frankfurt wine queen is allowed to represent the city and its wine for the first time. Marilen Maul has the great honor to be the first Frankfurt wine queen. And she does it really well. At first, her colleagues from the Rheingau region thought that they would not see Marilen so often at the numerous events where they take over representative tasks, because Frankfurt is a bit further away. But the young Frankfurt woman takes her task very seriously and attends as many appointments as possible. For Stephanie Kopietz, the Rheingau Wine Queen, it is clear: "Through the Frankfurt Wine Queen, the Rheingau and Frankfurt grow even closer together." The two highnesses will, of course, also be there when Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann opens the Rheingau Wine Market on 30 August.

Due to construction work, the entire Freßgass cannot be used as a festival mile. Therefore, some stalls will be "relocated" towards the Alte Oper. However, this is only temporary, assures Thomas Feda of the Tourismus + Congress GmbH. One of the stands to be found on the small market square on the other side of the Freßgass will be that of the City of Frankfurt. Here, one will not only be able to taste the vintage wine from the Lohrberger Hang. In addition, a very special wine will be presented: Together with the Frankfurt wine queen, a wine was selected that will now be sold as Frankfurt's "coronation wine". Marilen Maul is very proud of the choice she made, especially since the sale of the wine is still associated with a positive side effect: 2 € of each bottle (total price 9 €) go to a good cause.

"Regional origin is now a very important feature of food for many consumers. Therefore, the wine market is a very good opportunity for the people of Frankfurt, but also for the numerous guests of the city, to get to know our excellent Rheingau wines and sparkling wines and to come into direct contact with the winegrowers", says Peter Seyffardt, President of the Rheingau Winegrowers' Association. Communication, the consultation of the guests with the vintners, is thus the supporting pillar of the Rheingau wine market in the Freßgass'. And so that the communication between guests and vintners - or even among the guests - is not disturbed, a musical accompanying program will continue to be dispensed with. "It's always a nice, peaceful festival", says Thomas Feda - and hopefully that won't change in the future.
