Clear the way for Senckenberg!

Senckenberg subway enters renamed "Bockenheimer Warte (Senckenberg Museum)" station for the first time

(kus) On Thursday, 14. September, the renamed station "Bockenheimer Warte (Senckenbergmuseum)" was inaugurated by Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann together with Head of Transport Klaus Oesterling, VGF Managing Director Thomas Wissgott, Senckenberg Director General Prof. Volker Mosbrugger and Senckenberg President Beate Heraeus.

<link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de ffm-aktuell s ugc _blank>The renaming is a gift from the city of Frankfurt on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung and was symbolically handed over by Peter Feldmann at the Senckenberg Gala.A Senckenberg underground train was also presented, which was designed with colorful Senckenberg motifs as part of a long-term cooperation with the VGF and will now travel through Frankfurt's urban area for three years.

Pufferfish, tarsiers, long-necked dinosaurs and fire-breathing volcanoes - the newly designed Senckenberg train is an ambassador for diversity at Frankfurt's nature museum. Senckenberg Director General Prof. Volker Mosbrugger, together with Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, had the pleasure of steering the colorful train into the newly named stop "Bockenheimer Warte (Senckenberg Museum)" for the first time.

"We have two reasons to be happy today: the renaming of the underground stop and the beautiful new Senckenberg tram," said Mosbrugger at the press event at VGF Betriebshof Ost. "For this great present on the occasion of Senckenberg's 200th birthday, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the City of Frankfurt - first and foremost Peter Feldmann and Klaus Oesterling. A special thank you also goes to the VGF, with whom we have a long-term cooperation, within the framework of which ‚our' railway was created."

Lord Mayor Feldmann had already announced the city's special gift for Senckenberg's 200th anniversary in January - now it has been implemented and presented. "Senckenberg is an important player for the city of Frankfurt - one of the museums with the highest number of visitors, an important employer and a beacon of science even beyond the city limits. It was therefore important to us that the citizens of Frankfurt, as well as tourists and guests of the city, should also find the name ‚Senckenberg' in our transport network."

The new 25-metre-long Senckenberg train will run on the U4 line from Enkheim to the newly named underground station until at least 2020 and will offer 48 seats and 136 standing places. Thomas Wissgott, Director of Labour and Managing Director of VGF, said of the cooperation with Senckenberg: "The Senckenberg Natural History Museum shapes the culture and science of our city. That is why we are very pleased about the cooperation with the Senckenberg Society and the new Senckenberg underground train, which is a colourful part of our new cooperation. The great design of the train is an enrichment for the VGF fleet."

Senckenberg President Beate Heraeus was also pleased: "With the new names of the station and the colorful train, Senckenberg is even a bit more visible in Frankfurt - I hope that many young and old visitors will use this way of sustainable mobility to get to our museum!"
