CLOTHES MAKE PEOPLE - At the gold tester

Golden times with values made of cloth!

Ozan Karagözöglu has an extraordinary job. For 2 years he has been a gold assayer at PIM Gold- und Scheideanstalt GmbH in Heusenstamm. Every day he receives about 9 kg of old gold from all over Germany. Among them are old wedding rings, watches, chains and other valuable pieces of jewellery that are no longer worn and are exchanged for cash or gold bars. After Ozan has examined old gold for proportions of 333, 585, 750 and 916 in a spectrograph, these are melted down in a large melting furnace at approx. 1200 degrees Celsius to form a gold bar. In the refinery this gold bar is melted down again. Back comes gold jewelry or LBMA certified gold bars in sizes 0.1 g - 1000 g, these are then delivered to PIM's customers.

In Germany, gold is getting greater value because its rate is stable and retains value says Karagözöglu. In his home country of Turkey, gold has long held that value. "Gold is like a rhinoceros, big, strong and very stable," says the 30-year-old, who is delighted to be photographed with a life-size model of his favourite gold animal at the photo shoot for "Kleider machen Leute".

But Ozan Karagözöglu did not want a suit made of gold. He is more into the classic colors. Stephan Görner tailored him a blue pinstripe suit with matching dress shirt for the shoot.

In the campaign "Clothes make the man", twelve people, including the gold tester, with extraordinary professions are photographed in tailor-made suits by Nikita Kulikov every year. Recognition, appreciation and respect for these women and men are the message that the initiators Stephan Görner and Sven Müller want to achieve with this.

"After the Worschtdealer, the roofer will be published in March 2017 the gold tester and presented to the public. At the end of the year, the twelve motifs will again become an annual calendar, which will be presented at our charity gala and handed out to the guests and amateur models," says Stephan Görner.

The gala will take place this year on November 11, for the first time in the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten. This step was necessary because the capacities in the Hotel Kempinski were no longer sufficient, says Sven Müller, head of organization of the event. A ticket incl. champagne reception, 3-course menu, exquisite wines costs 250 euros in the ballroom. On the gallery with the same achievements 195 euro. A VIP fashion show, various bands and a DJ round off the programme. And of course, all the amteur models will be present in their tailor-made suits or costumes, because after all, they get to keep the fine threads.
