Countdown for the 16th PfennigBazar at the Dominican Monastery

On September 3 and 4, it's that time again: then the "second-hand department store for a good cause" will open its doors for the 16th time by now. Whether attractive business outfits, evening wear, cocktail dresses, men's suits or casual clothes for leisure time: Here you will find many great bargains! Well-preserved and high-quality clothing for the lady, the gentleman and the child, as well as toys, bags, costume jewelry, shoes, knickknacks, china and housewares you can buy here - and do something good with it.

For the charity bazaar, hundreds of volunteers have accepted donations since April at seven collection dates, sorted and packed into a good 2000 moving boxes. To honor the exemplary civic engagement of the volunteers as well as the motto of the PfennigBazar "Dress for small money, help in a big way" and to set a sign of solidarity with MS sufferers, this year Frankfurt's mayor Peter Feldmann will, together with Susie von Verschuer-Bär, open the 16th charity bazaar on Tuesday, September 3 at 10 am. September, at 10 am to open the 16th PfennigBazar.

The success story "PfennigBazar", which started 15 years ago, is inextricably linked to the Frankfurt freight forwarding company Fermont. Thanks to Managing Director Susie von Verschuer-Bär and her mother Sigrid Bär, the forwarding company is the logistical and organisational backbone of the PfennigBazar. In 2004, Susie von Verschuer-Bär, who had been involved in the DMSG Hessen for many years, had launched the PfennigBazar together with Gerhild Börsig, who had the idea, Renate von Metzler (honorary chairwoman of the DMSG Hessen), Ingrid Pajunk (who passed away in March 2019) and the late Alexandra Princess of Hanover. Today, the "second-hand department store for a good cause" enjoys real cult status in Frankfurt.

The proceeds go mostly to the DMSG Hesse to fund counseling and therapy services for MS sufferers, and a smaller amount to the Hospizverein St. Katharina.

Already since Monday before the opening of the PfennigBazar is the Fermont boss with about 15 employees on site in the Dominican monastery to build the "Second Department Store for a good cause". A mammoth task is also performed by the voluntary helpers who stock the "PfennigBazar department store" on Monday afternoons as soon as the clothes rails, shelves and tables are in place. On bazaar days, the volunteers act as good spirits: they stock the clothes rails and shelves with new merchandise and provide friendly and competent advice. The "PfennigBazar" department store comprises almost 25 departments. A team is responsible for each department. The special thing about PfennigBazar is above all its extensive "boutique area", where bargain hunters can find high-quality, designer pieces, evening and wedding dresses as well as noble men's suits at low prices.

The "16th PfennigBazar" is on Tuesday, September 3, and Wednesday, September 4, at Frankfurt's Dominikanerkloster (Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse 23) from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. each day. It's worth stopping by - you're sure to find something there!
