Countdown to the Frankfurt Christmas Market 2017

Countdown to the Frankfurt Christmas Market 2017

Just a few more days and it's that time again: then the<link _blank> Frankfurt Christmas Market, the second oldest Christmas market in Germany, will once again attract up to 3 million visitors from Frankfurt, the surrounding area and from all over the world. Stretching from the Hauptwache to Paulsplatz and Römerberg and down to the banks of the River Main, the Frankfurt Christmas Market will once again provide joy and a Christmassy atmosphere with its twinkling Christmas tree, around 200 colourfully lit stalls and a festive supporting programme.

At a press conference, Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, Thomas Feda, Managing Director of Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main (TCF), and Markus Elsner, spokesman for the Professional Association of Visual Artists Frankfurt, have now presented the programme of the Frankfurt Christmas Market 2017. Even though there will be a few new stands, basically everything will remain the same. And that's a good thing. Because it is not for nothing that the traditional offerings in particular continue to enjoy great popularity. "Regional Christmas products such as the <link _blank>Bethmännchen, hot apple wine or Quetschemännchen have a long tradition in Frankfurt and are popular souvenirs," Feldmann explained at the press conference.

But also unusual interpretations of traditional specialties such as Grüne Soße-Cr&ecirc;pes with brisket or a delicious Handkäs-Fondue can be tasted at this year's Christmas market - best in the warm and cozy guest rooms at the market. And if you want to explore the Christmas market with all its facets, you should join one of the numerous tours that are offered again this year: "You can get to know some of the Christmas specialties on the guided Christmas market tour 'Glühwein, Geschichten & Gebäck'. A special highlight is the wonderful view of the <link _blank>Christmas Market and the Frankfurt skyline from the roof gallery of the Old St. Nicholas Church," recommends TCF Managing Director Feda. Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main offers the guided tours on all Advent weekends. On Sunday, 17 December, the Christmas market tour will be guided especially for the blind and visually impaired. In addition, the tours can also be booked individually for groups and in many languages.

As in every year, there will be a Christmas market mug again in 2017. For many visitors, the motif cups have long been more than just a short-term storage place for mulled wine, but cherished collector's items. This year's Christmas market cup is a tribute to Frankfurt as a city of music. Blue on the outside and red on the inside, the excerpt of a well-known Christmas carol is also imprinted in the interior decor.

On 27.11. the Christmas market will be opened. After the bell rings at 5:05 p.m., the 31.5-meter-high tree will be lit. Afterwards there will be a Christmas concert with pop star Michelle. Contemplative and Christmas sounds fill the Römerberg every Wednesday and Saturday, when the tower winders play from the altar of the Old Nikolai Church at 6 pm. The great city bells ring out on December 2 and 24, and international Christmas carols are sung on the stage every weekend. The Christmas crib is also located there.

The sales exhibition of the Frankfurt artists of the BBK will again take place in the Römerhallen from 8 to 22 December and in the Paulskirche from 29 November to 22 December. On offer will be paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and works on paper by a total of 108 artists. In the Römerhallen, the artists will also be on site most of the time for a direct exchange. For more information, visit <link http: www.bbk-frankfurt.de _blank>
