Dare more nature - a city in climate change

Dare more nature - a city in climate change

Join-in exhibition at the Green Exchange in the Palmengarten

(kus) The growing Frankfurt Green City should remain liveable in the future. For this reason, increased efforts have been made in climate protection and Frankfurt's own climate change adaptation strategy has been developed. These strategies include goals, measures and perspectives to be able to govern to the anticipated changes and the associated effects on plants, animals and humans.

What changes due to climate change can already be observed in the Frankfurt Green City, what measures have been taken and what every citizen can do - these are the questions addressed by the participatory exhibition "Dare more nature - A city in climate change". It is part of the <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de veranstaltungen s event gruene-boerse.html _blank>"Green Exchange", which takes place from 17 to 19 March in the Palmengarten, Gallery East. The special event will be opened on 17 March, 1 p.m., by Rosemarie Heilig, Head of the Department of the Environment.

There, BioFrankfurt and partners will provide information about the new climate plan atlas, the project "Wilderness dare", which new species are settling, which vegetables cope with heavy rain and how, which trees defy the weather extremes and much more. Visitors can expect a programme of discussion, information and hands-on activities. For example, explorers can find out how wood species differ, examine mosquitoes with a binocular, estimate the CO2 emissions of transporting a pineapple and observe butterflies up close.

The adaptation strategies for Frankfurt envisage taking predominantly urban climate considerations into account in future urban planning. Green roofs, façades and traffic areas play a role, as do the preservation and creation of new green spaces with an impact on the climate, in order to reduce heat radiation or ensure the supply of cold air. Mobility within Frankfurt is to be supported by promoting public passenger, pedestrian and bicycle transport in order to reduce climate-damaging emissions.

The event is supported by FES and Coffee Wacker. For more information, visit <link https: www.frankfurt-greencity.de _blank>
