It was announced a few weeks ago, now the time has come: the Commerzbank Arena will be called Deutsche Bank Park from Wednesday, 01.07.2020. Many fans may not care, because for them the arena will always remain the Waldstadion. But for Eintracht, the end of Commerzbank's naming rights marks the end of an era. "Even though - in terms of the stadium naming rights - Commerzbank was not our contractual partner, we have built up a very close and trusting relationship with the people involved over the past 15 years. Moreover, as Eintracht's partner, Commerzbank has always been right by our side," says Eintracht board member Axel Hellmann.
Looking back on the past years, Hellmann adds: "We have gone through ups and downs together. There were glittering European Cup nights against Inter Milan and Chelsea FC in the Commerzbank Arena, but also second-division football against Wacker Burghausen and LR Ahlen. In all phases - however difficult they may have been for our club - we have always been able to rely on Commerzbank. The discussions in the course of the re-tendering of the naming rights were always harmonious and fair, even if a different decision was ultimately reached. We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"
In addition to the football matches, there were many concerts by international music stars, festivals and shows to see here. In total, the Commerzbank Arena has hosted 555 major events in 15 years. It is of course a shame that this name partnership is coming to such an unspectacular end due to Corona. Of course, this does not change the many great memories from the 15 years. After the new stadium was built and the transformation from an all-purpose stadium with a running track to a football and concert arena in 2005, Commerzbank made its mark on the spectator magnet in the Stadtwald with the naming rights to the Frankfurt stadium.
Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Hans Zimmer, Helene Fischer, Herbert Grönemeyer, Pink - they have all been guests in Eintracht's living room. The BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the world to the Commerzbank Arena for many years. And with the Festival4Family, one of the biggest family festivals in Germany was held here. We are already looking forward to the many new memories we hope to make soon at Deutsche Bank Park.
