'DFB-Punktespiel': Start of club campaign for EURO 2024

The German Football Association, the 21 state associations and DFB EURO GmbH have launched a nationwide club campaign for UEFA EURO 2024. The associations will support the more than 24,000 amateur clubs in Germany with helpful offers in club development. Points can be collected for each measure implemented until July 31, 2024. Attractive rewards await - up to an event day with the German national team at the DFB Campus or a short training camp at the Team Basecamp of adidas in Herzogenaurach.

The 2024 European Championship at home is just around the corner. The DFB point game ensures that amateur soccer is already winning today. Committed clubs are getting fit for the EURO by implementing a variety of measures, thus doing something for their own club development and earning points at the same time. Even small activities, such as advertising a referee training course by posting a notice at the club's home or visiting a DFB mobile, increase the counter reading. The larger the measure - such as the introduction of a new soccer offer in the club or cooperation with a school / daycare - the more points are waiting for the clubs.

With increasing number of points, the clubs rise in the level. Those who reach bronze, silver or even gold status in the DFB points game win guaranteed prizes such as a training package (mini-goals, balls and leotards) or a technology package (laptop, speakers and microphone). In each level, additional raffle prizes such as a meeting with the men's and women's national team at the DFB campus await.

Until the start of the first round in the DFB Cup, amateur clubs can already get an overview of the measures and prizes on punktespiel.dfb.de. On the first 1000 amateur clubs that officially register from 10 August 2023, the first special prize is already waiting: a package with five national team jerseys.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said: "We experience week after week on our soccer fields - in the professional and amateur area, with women and with men - the enthusiasm and passion for soccer. For many people in the country and also for me personally, the phrase is true: soccer time was and is the best time. Especially, of course, when you host a major tournament. We are looking forward to the home European Championship next year. And we want it to be a real benefit for our amateur clubs. That's why it's worth participating in the DFB points competition."

Peter Frymuth, DFB vice president for match operations and soccer development, said: "Our amateur clubs are doing outstanding work. The EURO 2024 offers them an opportunity for further development. The DFB Points Match is intended to provide them with additional motivation to tackle the challenges facing their clubs through targeted measures together with their national association. The points game is intended to support commitment in the recruitment of players, the qualification of coaches and also the recruitment of new referees. We want to reward the clubs for their dedicated work with great prizes."

DFB national team director Rudi Völler said: "Almost all national players have learned the footballing basics in amateur clubs. The special commitment of the volunteers lays the foundation for the sporting success of our national team. The DFB Points Match is a thank-you for this irreplaceable contribution from amateur soccer. That's why we as a national team are very happy to contribute to the bonuses. We look forward to you!"

How the DFB points game works: club managers register their amateur club on punktespiel.dfb.de. Important: For tax reasons, proof of non-profit status is required for the awarding of prizes. The website for the "DFB-Punktespiel" features a total of 18 measures in four categories (players, coaches, referees and club life) for which 10, 25 or 50 points can be collected. In the online overview, clubs can see what score they have achieved and which measures they can still implement to earn more points. Important note: It is not necessary to implement all 18 measures to reach the gold level.

Already implemented measures, the amateur clubs can also claim retroactively until July 1, 2023. Points can be accumulated until July 31, 2024. Depending on the level achieved (gold, silver, bronze), the clubs win various guaranteed prizes. In raffles, they have the additional chance to win attractive main prizes. The DFB points game runs until July 31, 2024.
