The green area there with the adjacent walls will be closed on Friday, May 22, for reasons of infection control. The Friedberger market will not be affected, however.
Unfortunately, many visitors to this popular after-work meeting had not adhered to the specified distance regulations in recent weeks. In addition, many, when they were approached by the city police, showed disobedience or - even worse - deliberately disregarded the requests of the security forces. Thereby, it is clear from the Corona- Contact and Operation Restriction Ordinance (CoKoBeV) in the current version that public behaviors that lead to the spacing requirement being endangered are prohibited.
For this reason, the green area of Friedberger Platz will be closed on Friday. Since also on the neighboring squares (Matthias-Beltz-Platz and Luisenplatz) corresponding violations were noted, appropriate measures will also be initiated there depending on the situation, if necessary. This is a pity for all those who simply wanted to meet here in a relaxed atmosphere and would have paid attention to the necessary distance. The residents, on the other hand, will probably find it less sad that they no longer have to fret about the noise and mountains of rubbish that the weekly after-work get-together brings with it.
Safety department head Markus Frank appeals to Frankfurt citizens in general not to underestimate the risks of infection posed by such gatherings and to continue to abide by the contact restrictions in place, even when the weather is nice - so that we can all meet together again in places like Friedberger Platz as soon as possible. .
