Switch off, enjoy a good glass of wine in a cosy ambience and also receive personal as well as expert advice - that's what makes a good wine bar. Whether a cosy living room atmosphere or urban industrial chic, whether wines from the region or from all over the world - the range of great locations for wine lovers is constantly growing. The magazine "Der Feinschmecker" has been looking for new favorite wine bars all over Germany and has found one in Frankfurt.

To be more precise, in Ostend, where the passionate wine lover Ralf Müller-Arnold opened the new wine bar "East Grape" in September last year. At the new quarter THE EAST, close to the ECB Bank, the Innside Hotel and the popular tapas bar "Bei Frau Nanna", the location of the small wine bar is almost perfect, especially since it not only outwardly reflects very well the change that could be observed in the Ostend in recent years.

The modern, quaint location offers something for every taste and every budget with wines from award-winning young vintners as well as a vegan and organic selection. "It's very important to me to represent both the neighbourhood and the wine culture. The Ostend is in complete upheaval, hip and international. This is where I belong," says owner Ralf Müller-Arnold. The native of Frankfurt has been living in the Ostend for 20 years. His motto is real, honest and without frills. This applies to the wines as well as to the furnishings. The eye-catcher and heart of the bar is the regulars' table, designed from the trunk of an oak tree from the Thuringian Forest.

Along with the wine, guests can order little things like bung cheese with pretzels, olives, cheese with bread or chocolate tart. And if you don't feel like wine, but still like a cosy get-together, there is of course also a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, beer or whiskey on offer. With the "East Grape" Ralf Müller-Arnold has not only fulfilled his own dream but also created a real feel-good place for his guests. We can very well understand why this location appears in the list of the new favorite wine bars in Germany!
