Eschersheimer Landstraße partially fully closed

(kus) Eschersheimer Landstraße will be fully closed to through traffic between Am Weißen Stein and Hügelstraße from Monday, 24 April. The reason is work by the Office of Road Construction and Development (ASE), which will last until the end of 2018. Throughout the construction work, the carriageway will have to be fully closed to through traffic several times in both directions. Therefore, it is recommended to permanently avoid the area of Eschersheimer Landstraße under construction as far as possible. A detour is recommended via Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse in the direction of the city and via Jean-Monnet-Strasse in the direction of the city.

A map with the detour recommendations is attached as a PDF for download. Residents will be notified separately at each construction phase. A resident information management, which citizens can contact with questions about the construction site, is the responsibility of Heyder+Partner GmbH. The employees can be reached from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. under the telephone number 07071/7089000 and by e-mail at info@eschersheimer-ls-2017.de.

The Eschersheimer Landstraße will receive a new street design. It will become permanently single-lane in the section in favor of bicycle traffic. Michaela Kraft, head of the Office of Road Construction and Development: "At the Kleinschmidtstraße/Am Lindenbaum intersection, cyclists will be able to cross the tracks of the light rail line more safely and easily in the future - thanks to the newly installed crossing option with traffic lights and colored markings." The performance of the light rail will be maintained, Kraft said. As part of the construction work, the top surface layer of the carriageway will be renewed. This will be followed by the base renewal and the widening of the sidewalks to at least two meters. At the same time, new parking facilities will be created in the longitudinal direction, partly as parking bays on the pavement, partly as markings on the roadway. In order to emphasize the priority of pedestrians, most of the pedestrian crossings of the entering side streets will be raised to sidewalk level. In addition, 32 new trees will define the streetscape in the future.

The Frankfurter Verkehrsgesellschaft (VGF) is taking advantage of the redesign of Eschersheimer Landstraße and renewing the tracks of the light rail line between "Heddernheim" and "Dornbusch" on the A line in July 2017. In addition, track construction work will take place at the Heddernheim depot. During this period, a rail replacement service with articulated buses has been set up. The VGF construction work is being carried out in close coordination with the Office for Road Construction and Development in order to keep traffic restrictions for road users and residents to a minimum. Detailed information will follow.
