Everyday and extraordinary: Lost property auction at the VGF

It happens time and again that things are left behind on VGF buses and trains. These are usually quite ordinary everyday items such as gym bags, backpacks, umbrellas. However, it also happens that bicycles, scooters and tents are forgotten by their owners. Sounds unbelievable, but for the employees of the VGF lost property office it is everyday life.

Many of these things find their way there with a bit of luck and honest finders. In the lost property office, on the other hand, only a third of the found items are collected by the owners; the rest are auctioned off by the VGF every two months after expiry of the statutory retention period of three months and, in some cases, extensive research into the owners.

The next auction is on Friday, 6 September, at 3 p.m. at the old Eckenheim tram depot, Schwabstrasse 18. Directions: line U5 from the main station as well as Konstablerwache to the station Marbachweg/Sozialzentrum. Things that were forgotten in VGF vehicles and stations during the months of March and April will go under the hammer on this day. Always very popular with auction guests are bicycles, of which the VGF also has some on offer.
