Excursions at Easter - Important info on Hesse's most popular excursion destinations

Over the Easter long weekend, many destinations throughout Hesse will once again enjoy tremendous popularity. However, due to the Corona pandemic and the steadily increasing number of infections, there are restrictions at most places, so you should find out before a planned excursion whether your destination is also affected. In general, you should refrain from visiting particularly heavily frequented destinations. For all those who are nevertheless drawn to the popular destinations, we have compiled some important information:

Zoo Frankfurt

Those who have not yet booked a ticket for the Easter weekend will be disappointed: All time slots are completely booked in the coming days.

Opel Zoo

There are still a few remaining tickets for Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, but only for the early time slot (9am - 12pm). Tickets can be booked HERE.

Hessenpark

Admission to the Hessenpark on Easter days is only possible if the after the online booking is submitted in printed form. For organizational reasons, it will not be possible to fill it out later on these days.

Roman Fort Saalburg

Unfortunately, the Saalburg fort had to close again and is therefore not accessible during the Easter weekend

Großer Feldberg

The same applies here as already on the Christmas holidays: The access to the plateau (L 3024) is from 2. - 5. April closed. If the number of visitors is too high, the plateau itself as well as the lower parking lots could be closed. In any case, it is requested to observe the applicable distance and hygiene measures and to dispose of any rubbish in the rubbish bins or to take it back.

Rock Sea

No restrictive measures are planned around the Rock Sea so far

Wasserkuppe

The parking lots at the Wasserkuppe are closed on Easter days. In addition, there are no food or sanitary facilities of any kind. If possible, a trip here should be avoided. But the Wasserkuppe is, after all, also worth a visit on days when not so many people storm this destination!

Fasanerie Wiesbaden

Up to 500 people can currently visit the Wiesbaden Pheasantry at any one time. But for this, appropriate time slots need to be booked HERE.

Freudenberg Castle

The experience field "for the development of the senses and thinking with 1000 & 1 possibility" can be visited again from now on. However, visitors cannot enter the castle at the moment. You can find all info HERE

Castle Frankenstein

Unfortunately, the castle remains closed. There is also no access over the holidays

Taunus Wunderland

The popular theme park also has yet to close.

Herkules (Kassel)

Here, according to the rules currently in force, 200 people are allowed at a time. The visitor platform is open, and of course the spacing rules apply here. The pyramid is closed until further notice. More info can be found HERE

Edersee

No restrictions or closures are planned around the Edersee yet.

Ettelsberg / Willingen

As long as the weather permits, skiing in Willingen is also possible over Easter. For those who prefer hiking, the Ettelsberg cable car is open. Please note: Medical or FFP2 masks are mandatory in waiting areas, at ticket offices and in the lift.

We wish you nice and relaxing Easter holidays! Stay healthy!
