Experience Frankfurt's underground in the casemates

You want to experience Frankfurt from a very special side? Experience a piece of city history that is only accessible to a few? Then you should definitely join one of the guided tours in the Kasematten. We have good news for all those interested: in the second half of 2019, the Archaeological Museum Frankfurt will again be offering the much sought-after guided tours at the former Friedberg bastion of the Baroque city fortifications. Here, visitors can experience 300 years of the city's history up close - a truly special experience.

The casemate, named Frankfurt's "Monument of the Year 2014", represents an imposing and high-ranking cultural monument with a walkable length of over 40 metres and a clear height of 4 metres. The tour on the site of the administration and care centre of the Orphanage Foundation in Bleichstraße leads from the current street level to a depth of 9.50 metres. Information panels with old city views and plans as well as archaeological finds allow visitors to experience the history of the complex from its construction in 1628 to its use as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War. Here Frankfurt shows itself from its truly not everyday side.
