Frankfurt. On 4 April 2025, libraries throughout Germany will open their doors for the first nationwide Night of Libraries. Numerous institutions in Frankfurt and the surrounding area are also taking part in the event. Under the motto "Knowledge. Share. Discover.", visitors can expect a varied programme of readings, lectures, concerts, workshops and guided tours.
In Frankfurt, 14 libraries will be presenting a joint programme of events. These include the German National Library, the Johann Christian Senckenberg University Library and the libraries of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the University of Music and Performing Arts. The museum libraries of the Jewish Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (MMK) and the Weltkulturen Museum also provide exciting insights into their collections. In addition, public libraries such as the Frankfurt City Library, the Dreieich City Library and the Bad Vilbel and Neu-Isenburg City Libraries are inviting visitors on a night-time discovery tour.
The Night of Libraries, an initiative of the German Library Association (dbv), aims to highlight the diversity and importance of libraries as places of education, exchange and information. More than 1,600 libraries across Germany are taking part in the event.
