Frankfurt COVID-19 vaccination center is being built at the fairgrounds

We don't yet know when the first vaccine against the coronavirus will be approved. The (reasonable) hope, however, is that it may even be before Christmas or early in the new year. That is why vaccination centres are now being planned and set up all over the country - including Frankfurt. Now it has also been determined where the COVID-19 vaccination center of the city of Frankfurt is to be built: on the grounds of the Messe Frankfurt.

Under the direction of the health department with the support of the local disaster control, a planning staff vaccination center was recently established. The central task of this planning staff is to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is set up and that the vaccination center is commissioned on time. With the decision to establish the vaccination center at the fairgrounds, there is planning certainty for all parties involved and the work for the establishment of the vaccination center, which is scheduled to be operational by December 11, 2020, can be started.

Prof. René Gottschalk, Director of the Health Department, commented, "I am confident that we will have the Immunization Center operational by December 11, in large part because of the excellent collaboration between the Health Department and the Fire Department on the planning staff. With the fair, we have another competent partner on our side."

The health department is currently determining the staffing needs for the vaccination center, where at least 60 percent of Frankfurt residents will be vaccinated against the Corona virus in the coming months.

The city will provide more details on the vaccination centers, mobile teams, procedures, and prioritization of priority groups to be vaccinated in a timely manner. We will keep you informed!
