Every third woman in Germany is affected by violence at least once in her life. This means that in Frankfurt am Main alone, 105,571 women could be affected by violence. That is a frighteningly high number. We must and will draw more attention to this together.
To mark the International Day against Violence against Women, the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs is therefore using light projections throughout Germany to draw attention to how many women, statistically speaking, have already experienced violence or are acutely affected. The projection ends with the question "What is your number?" and thus makes it clear that violence against women takes place in all of our personal surroundings. Violence against women concerns us all.
In Frankfurt am Main, the light projection could be seen around Horst-Lippmann-Platz. Yesterday, only the figure was visible, and then today, on the Day Against Violence Against Women, the action was taken down and referred to the website www.stärker-als-gewalt.de.
The site is a contact point for initial information, bundles offers and information that help to recognize forms of violence earlier, to support those affected more effectively and to find ways out of violence.
