Frankfurt no longer in the running for the IAA

Frankfurt no longer in the running for the IAA

Despite a successful presentation last week, it is now clear: Frankfurt is no longer the site of the IAA. As the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) announced today, the Main metropolis is no longer in the running to host the motor show. The goal of keeping the IAA, which is so important for Frankfurt for economic reasons alone, has thus not been achieved. Now the VDA must decide among the remaining applicants who will be awarded the contract.

In addition to financial aspects, the decisive factor is likely to be the question of which of the concepts presented could be implemented best and polish up the tarnished image of the automotive industry a little. Frankfurt was apparently not able to convince with its presentation. After their presentation in Berlin, Hesse's Minister of Economics and Transport Tarek Al-Wazir, Frankfurt's Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, City Councillor Markus Frank, Messe Frankfurt's Managing Director Uwe Behm and Stefan Weil from the Frankfurt agency Atelier Markgraph were confident that the new Frankfurt concept would convince the VDA to keep the trade fair in Frankfurt.

Despite many new ideas and a strong appearance by the region, the presentation was unfortunately not convincing enough for Frankfurt to take a step further. In March it will be decided whether Berlin, Hamburg or Cologne will get the nod.
