Frankfurt Oktoberfest: Ed Sheeran's shirt and hat to be auctioned off

This was one of the really big surprises in Frankfurt's summer: after his concert in deutsche Bank Park, superstar Ed Sheeran had spontaneously paid a visit to Frankfurt's Oktoberfest, which was celebrated in the marquee at the stadium, and wowed the crowd there with a spontaneous vocal performance! The beer mug he drank from during his visit was subsequently auctioned off on Ebay for a good cause, fetching just under 2,000 euros. Now Kai Mann, partner of the Festwirte of the Frankfurt Oktoberfest, is calling for another auction: Ed Sheeran fans can bid on the online platform "United Charity" for the shirt and hat that the singer wore during his Oktoberfest guest performance. Mann wants to donate the proceeds at this year's RTL Spendenmarathon.

"The auction of the Maßkrug was a complete success. The money from the sale went to a project of the non-profit Reiner Meutsch Foundation Fly & Help, to the construction of a school in the Dominican Republic," says Kai Mann. The Hausmänner festival hosts and Kai Mann had already put one euro into the donation project for every Oktoberfest ticket sold, for a total of 40,000 euros. "But I'm sure: There's still more! So now we're auctioning off Ed's shirt and hat to support children once again." The Frankfurt Oktoberfest makers will donate the auctioned sum at the RTL telethon on November 17 and 18, which the channel is organizing this year to benefit various projects that help needy and disadvantaged children in Germany and other countries.

The minimum bid for the shirt and hat is a total of 951 euros. Who wants to bid, must be fast, because the auction ends on November 17 at midnight.
