And since 2015, this has meant that the school holidays have been used to carry out the necessary work. Commuters who have a ticket for the route between Frankfurt and Hanau also have the option of switching to long-distance services and using their RMV ticket to travel on ICs and ICEs between Frankfurt and Hanau. The expected warning strikes in public transport also affect the subways and trams in Frankfurt am Main. The union has announced that on Wednesday, March 28, all nine subway lines and ten tram lines will be on strike from the start of operations.

The "tangential lines" 32 and 34 make wide arcs in the north of the city center from Ostbahnhof to Westbahnhof and from Bornheim to Mönchhofstraße. Line 64 to Ginnheim provides a connection from the main station to the Alte Oper and thus to the city centre; it runs more frequently due to the S-Bahn tunnel closure.
