Frankfurt sportswomen and sportsmen of the year announced

Frankfurt is a sports city - and not just when Eintracht is playing. The Main metropolis has already produced many successful sportsmen and sportswomen, some of whom have now been honoured. This was supposed to have taken place at the 10th Frankfurt Sports Gala, scheduled for November 20, but the gala was cancelled due to a pandemic. However, although the presentation of the awards could not take place for the time being and it has not yet been determined when this will be made up for, the award winners have now been announced. Awards will be presented in the categories of Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year and Para-Sportsman and Coach of the Year. The decision on the award winners was made by a panel of experts and, in the case of the first three categories, by a public vote involving some 10,000 votes.

"Both the nominees and the honourees deserved to be celebrated in a festive setting," said Sports Director Mike Josef. "I very much hope that we can make up for this soon and congratulate all the award winners."

The honorees were announced on Saturday, November 27, with a film on the YouTube channel of the City of Frankfurt am Main. You can see the video here:
