Frankfurt: TAB Street Gallery launches competition for creative design of Taunusstraße

The scheme launched in August 2015 to revitalise Taunusstraße as "TAB - Taunusstraße Arts & Bites" by the Bahnhofsviertel trade association has evolved. As its own registered association "TAB e.V." and still under the proven patronage of the Head of the Department of Economic Affairs Markus Frank and the Frankfurt musician Daniel Wirtz, the initiative pursues the promotion of creative potential through the cooperation and association of creative people, restaurateurs, artists, start-ups and people with ideas and love for their location Frankfurt am Main. Board and project management: Björn Eckerl and James Ardinast.

In September 2017, TAB e.V. will draw attention to itself with an exciting project: The temporary art project "TAB Street Gallery", conceived and implemented in a partnership of several actors, will set Taunusstrasse in a new and striking light via uniquely artistically designed lanterns. Tania Khan from INM - Institute for New Media - and Björn Eckerl from the agency Vier für Texas came up with the brilliant idea for the lighting design using lanterns. The Straßenbeleuchtung Frankfurt Rhein Main GmbH provides - secured by an officially examined expert opinion - the 20 lighting poles existing in the street temporarily, the startup Tatcraft GmbH and the agency keinSTIL are responsible for the conception and production of the lantern frames. Creative director Michael Hazkiahu is the lynchpin for the artistic input and the renowned company Satis & Fy brings a lot of know-how and technology at its best to the unusual project. Further patrons with their hearts set on the station district stain are most welcome.

Digital designs from the fields of street art, graphic design, illustration, painting, drawing and photography as well as images of art objects, paintings, installations - in short: digital creations of any kind - are sought. The deadline for entries is August 20, 2017, and the independent jury, led by Tyrown Vincent, will select 20 of the submitted designs to be artistically featured on the light fixtures.

On September 9, 2017, the completed installation will be staged at a grand concert on Taunus Street.

The creative agency "esistfreitag", which - like Tatcraft - was also founded in the incubator of Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt GmbH, supports the event in social media, for example via the project "Frankfurt you are so wonderful", which reaches many people locally and nationwide.

All those involved are committed with their own expertise, with a lot of heart and soul and on a voluntary basis - the credo is: "We want to show what Frankfurt is capable of!" City Councillor Markus Frank is very pleased: "I am very proud of this team and am sure that with extraordinary people and unusual projects, we will trigger positive impulses for the development of Taunusstrasse."
