From 25 November 2021: 2G-Plus in the Alte Oper and the Städtische Bühnen

Based on the current decisions of the State of Hesse, the Alte Oper as well as the Schauspiel and Oper will be running the 2G-Plus rule for all events from Thursday, 25 November 2021. This means that access to the venues will then only be granted to those who have been vaccinated or have recovered and additionally present a current negative antigen test. It is important to note that self-testing will not be accepted, nor will concert-goers be able to get tested at the Alte Oper shortly before the event begins. The Städtische Bühnen, on the other hand, will promptly place a mobile test station on site.

As a test, a rapid antigen test is sufficient, as it is carried out as a so-called "citizen test" free of charge in pharmacies or, for example, private test centers. This rapid antigen test ("citizen test") must not be older than 24 hours. A PCR test is not required, but will also be accepted, and the test must have been taken no more than 48 hours before the start of the event.

Visitors without proof of vaccination or convalescence will not be admitted to the Alte Oper, Schauspiel or Oper. Exceptions apply to children and young people under the age of 18 (in this case a daily negative rapid antigen test or the student test booklet is sufficient). The Alte Oper also points out that persons who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and can prove this with a medical certificate also require a daily antigen rapid test ("citizen test"). As before, no negative proof is required for children under the age of 6 and those not yet enrolled in school.

No masks need to be worn at the Alte Oper due to the tightened access rules; concert catering is open.

Intendants Anselm Weber and Bernd Loebe of the Städtische Bühnen explain the decision for 2G+ this way: "We deliberately chose the 2G+ option. The 2G option without an additional quick test would have meant having to reintroduce a checkerboard pattern, reduce seats and return tickets already sold for lack of space. We want to avoid this until further notice."
