From November, full seating capacity again at the Alte Oper

From November, full seating capacity again at the Alte Oper

In small but noticeable steps, cultural Frankfurt is moving back towards normality. After the Schauspiel and the Oper had already announced that they would once again perform with full seating capacity, the Alte Oper is now also going down this path. This is possible due to the current decisions of the State of Hesse. The Alte Oper will return to concert operations with full seating capacity on November 1. For visitors, should the state government not decide in the meantime to tighten access restrictions, the 3G rule will apply, whereby only those who have been vaccinated, convalesced or tested will be allowed access to the Alte Oper.

In order to hold the events with full hall occupancy instead of "double checkerboarding", a lead time is required for various organizational reasons. All concerts planned for September and October will therefore still take place under the current conditions in the "checkerboard occupancy" as well as on the basis of the current hygiene concept. This can be found at www.alteoper.de/corona

Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Alte Oper, welcomes the measures: "With the full opening, the Alte Oper is taking a big step towards a return to normal event operations. The house can thus once again fulfil its role as a meeting place for the people of the city, as a centre for communal cultural experiences, to a greater extent than under the previous conditions. The concerts, whether for children or adults, for classical music or entertainment fans, ultimately thrive on shared enthusiasm. All of this is made possible by a significant increase in the rate of vaccination. The inoculation must now continue!"

Markus Fein, Intendant and Managing Director of the Alte Oper, adds: "We, like the musicians and the many tenants and partners, are very positive about the possibility of being able to fully reopen the Alte Oper. Last but not least, this step will enable us to offer the artists and orchestras a real perspective again. In addition, the safety of our concert-goers continues to be an important concern for us. Fortunately, as the first concerts of the season have shown, the vaccination rate of our visitors is significantly higher than that of the population as a whole, namely around 90 percent; moreover, the hygiene concept of the house has proven itself. With the increased number of tickets, we are now pleased to offer people the opportunity to also purchase tickets for those events that were already sold out due to the limited checkerboard seating."

The advance sale for the additional ticket contingents in the Alte Oper's own program starts on Wednesday, October 6. All further info and the complete programme is available at: https://www.alteoper.de/
