From Saturday 2G-Plus in Palmengarten, Zoo, Theater and Frankfurt museums

From Saturday, January 8, the 2G-Plus regulation applies in many places in Frankfurt. So also in the Palmengarten. This also affects the Winter Lights, which end on the evening of January 9 and are already sold out. At the entrance is then a valid vaccination proof or a proof of a survived Corona infection, the identity card and additionally a daily negative rapid test from an official test center to present.

For triple vaccinated persons the test proof is omitted. Children and adolescents up to and including 17 years of age, as well as people who can prove that they cannot be vaccinated, are also exempt. For them, a rapid test is sufficient and required.

After the end of the winter lights, the Palm Garden reopens daily from 9 am to 4 pm. The 2G-Plus scheme applies only to indoor leisure facilities. Since the Palmengarten holds its offer predominantly in the external area, but with the show houses also interior areas can be used, the control can be effectively implemented only at the entrance.

Also for the Frankfurt Zoo applies from Saturday 2G-Plus. Excluded here are also people with a booster vaccination. The Hessian test booklets of pupils are recognized as proof. The same applies to proof of regular testing from schools in other states. Children under the age of six are exempt from the 2G-Plus rule. Older children who have not yet started school are also exempt from testing.

Adolescents, as well as people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and present a doctor's certificate to that effect, must present a negative rapid test certificate. In all indoor areas of the zoo, there is a requirement to wear a medical mask.

The application of the 2G-Plus rule for the zoo is necessary because the large animal houses are attractive attractions, especially during the winter season. With the large number of houses and entrances, however, the control of the evidence can only be carried out centrally at the zoo entrance.

Affected by the 2G-Plus rule are also all museums in the urban area of Frankfurt am Main. The regulation also applies to all cultural events in closed rooms in Frankfurt. This also applies to the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Opera Frankfurt, the Alte Oper and all other cultural institutions such as cinemas and theaters. For outdoor events, the 2G rule applies.

The reason for the stricter rules is the incidence value in Frankfurt am Main, which has been rising for days. If it is above 350 per 100,000 inhabitants for more than three days in a row, the city is considered a hotspot. Thus, on the following day, the tightening rules laid down in the Coronavirus Protection Ordinance of the State of Hesse take effect.
