For the second time, the Underberg Group is holding a special kind of competition: the candidates not only have to convince at the cooking pot, but also at the microphone. This cooking and singing competition really does bring very special talents to light, which became more than clear at the preliminary round at the Mirko Reeh cooking world in Frankfurt. Six candidates had qualified for this round. But only two of them could get a ticket for the final, which will take place on December 01 in Berlin.

But there was little sign of competitive pressure among the talents, especially during the one-hour cooking phase. Here they sang happily and helped each other - all under the watchful eye of Mirko Reeh, who was delighted with the six guest chefs. For despite all the fun the candidates had, they also showed the discipline that is necessary for such a competition. As different as the six best from the region are, as different were their dishes with which they wanted to convince the jury. British-born AQuilla Fearon, who has already been on stage with greats such as Phil Collins, tried her hand at a recipe by her compatriot Jamie Oliver, while Alessandra Mahnecke from Dormagen tried to convince at the stove with Italian "Spaghetti alla Vongole" and at the microphone with jazzy soul.

The jury - consisting of Frankfurt TV chef Mirko Reeh, Dr. Hubertine Underberg-Ruder, singer and vocal coach Sarah Bouwers and food journalist Ute Porz - agreed that all participants in the competition had delivered outstanding performances. But in the end there could only be two winners. Second place went to Joe Sander (54), front man of the excellent tribute band, "The Johnny Cash Experience" with a dish he created himself called "Carrot Stew meets Meat" and his version of the Johnny Cash classic "Folsom Prison Blues". First place deservedly went to Viktoria Wochner (33) from Breisach am Rhein. She convinced the expert jury with her delicious borscht and the song "Dorogoj dlinnoju".

In Berlin, the two will now meet the winners of the other regional preliminary rounds. The winner will receive 2.500 &euros and the possibility of exclusive recording studio recordings at the renowned [MA] Music Academy. And who knows what comes next: Last year's winner, for example, was hired after the final to go on tour with the band VoXXclub as support. It's an original way of promoting talent that the herbal digestif brand Underberg has come up with in this talent competition. From what could be heard and tasted in Mirko Reeh's cooking world that day, it's safe to assume that we'll be hearing a lot more, and not just from the two winners of this preliminary competition.
