German Half-Timbered House Day 2022: Special guided tour through the Höchst Old Town

A real gem in Frankfurt is the Höchst Old Town. A trip here is actually always worthwhile. But if you want to learn more about the old town and its history, you should join one of two guided tours offered on Sunday, May 29, as part of the eighth German Half-Timbered House Day. The tourism & Congress GmbH Frankfurt invites to a two-hour tour through the Höchster old town.

During the tour, the approximately 7.5 hectare large closed half-timbered ensemble, which has been a listed building since 1972, is explored in detail. With its winding alleys, historic buildings and picturesque structures, it offers an atmospheric ambience about which there is much to learn of interest. Since July 2013, the picturesque old town has been a member of the German Half-Timbered Houses Route. Other highlights include the Renaissance castle with castle square, the Baroque Bolongaro Palace, the Gothic customs tower and the Carolingian Justinus Church. After the tour, visitors can exclusively visit the customs garden of the Höchster Geschichtsverein. There are the stone musicians ("Türkenkapelle"), the tomb of the "Karpfenwirt" as well as the Nassauische Grenzsäule.

The participation in the tour is free of charge, registration is required due to the limited number of participants. Registration is online at frankfurt-tourismus.de/Hoechst and is since Friday, 6. May, possible.

Meeting point is the Tourist Information Höchst/Tabak & Presse Krämer, Antoniterstraße 22, Höchst.

The tours are offered at two different times:

Tour 1: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tour 2: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Tip: To get there, use the Frankfurt Card and take a relaxed ride on public transportation to Höchst. In addition to public transportation, the Card offers discounts on sightseeing tours, museum admissions and other activities. Upon presentation of the booking confirmation for the tour, participants receive a 20 percent discount on the Frankfurt Card. The discount is available at the Tourist Information at the main train station and at Römerberg.
