A few weeks ago we told you HERE we reported in detail about the plans of the GIBSON makers to open a beach club at the Alte Oper. Now the time has finally come: from today, Tuesday, August 10, at 6 p.m. until October, the site of SIGNA Holding GmbH at Opernplatz 2 will be home to the Gibson Beach Club. A small oasis has been created in the middle of the city on an area of 3,500 square metres, offering drinks, food and the finest Gibson entertainment under palm trees. We have already had a look at this temporary location and are very taken with what the team around Madjid Djamegari, Bastian Bernhagen and Pierre Klippstein have created on the site, where not so long ago an office building from the 1950s stood, which was home to the "Mövenpick" restaurant for a long time.
500 tons of finest sand invite you to bury your feet in it and although the skyline is in direct view, here you really feel like you have escaped the big city and its hustle and bustle for a few moments. Cozy seating areas like Day Beds in the back invite you to completely let go. But there are also covered areas, so a visit is possible even if the weather doesn't cooperate. There is an area where service is offered at the place as well as an area with self-service. While in the service area the food is brought to the guests by a Mexican food station, the self-service area offers a sandwich food truck. A DJ will provide background music.
Even though the Beach Club is not 100% finished yet - some Day Beds are still stuck at customs - and the atmosphere that will be created here when guests are milling around the area could not be judged yet, the first impression is absolutely positive. We will definitely be back. A total of 600 people will be allowed onto the grounds, and their data will be recorded via the Luca app. Especially at a time when you like to meet with loved ones outside, such a location is a real asset to the city center.
