Great Christmas Circus gives away 1,000 tickets to needy families in Frankfurt

The Great Christmas Circus at the Ratsweg fairground has long been a fixture in the cultural calendar of the Main metropolis. More than 60,000 visitors flock to the circus ring every year, which has developed into one of the city's winter events over the past twelve years. For the seventh time, the Frankfurt Christmas Circus is supporting children and families in difficult circumstances.

Circus director Manuel Wille is once again providing 1,000 free tickets for the performance on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2025, at 2 p.m. He is thus continuing a charity tradition that was expanded to this scale for the first time last year. "The circus inspires children from all social backgrounds," says Wille. "But we know that many families cannot afford to go. With this campaign, we want to bring a few hours of light-heartedness – and sparkling eyes."

The director describes the Christmas Eve performance as "particularly rewarding and atmospheric": Knowing that the guests would otherwise have no opportunity to enjoy such an experience lends the afternoon a special magic. On 27 November, the 1,000 tickets were handed over at Frankfurt's Römer by artists from the circus to the board of Frankfurter Tafel e.V. and to Lord Mayor Mike Josef (SPD), who has once again taken on the patronage of the campaign.

For the Tafel, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the continuation of the initiative is a sign of appreciation. Chairman Rainer Häusler spoke of a "heartfelt birthday present" and a special sign of confidence in the organisation's many years of work. For the families supported by the food bank, the visit to the circus "will be an unforgettable experience again this year".

Patron praises social tradition

Mayor Josef expressed his delight at the continuity of the campaign: "It has become an important Frankfurt tradition, and I am happy to be its patron." The doubling of free tickets to 1,000 is a strong signal from the initiators. From his own experience, he can confirm that a visit to the Great Christmas Circus is "magical and wonderful".

Josef also took the opportunity to highlight another municipal offer: with the Kufti ticket, children and young people can easily gain free access to more than 35 municipal museums and Frankfurt Zoo. Information on this can be found at www.kufti.de.

From 13 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, the Ratsweg fairground will host the 12th edition of the Great Christmas Circus Frankfurt.
