Today's Friday start of the Herbst-Dippemess is news that many Frankfurt residents are happy about. However, there is also a small drop of bitterness this year: the folk festival will have to do without a Ferris wheel in 2019, unlike originally planned. The Sky Vision Ferris wheel is actually one of the highlights of the Dippemess, as it offers visitors a unique view of the festival grounds and the Frankfurt skyline. But visitors will unfortunately have to do without it this autumn.
The Ferris wheel from the Netherlands, which was scheduled for use at Frankfurt's largest fair, is currently still in Austria and, according to its operator, cannot be dismantled and transported to Frankfurt due to logistical problems, including a lack of staff.
The autumn Dippemess thus starts today without a Ferris wheel. Due to the short notice and the current high season of folk festivals, no adequate replacement could be found so far, despite efforts of Tourismus+Congress Frankfurt. That's a pity - but the next Dippemess with Ferris wheel is sure to come!
